 Employment Opportunity: Copy Editor (Pink Triangle Press)
Copy Editor
Canada's premier gay and lesbian media group is looking for a full-time Copy Editor to work from our offices in the Church and Wellesley neighbourhood of Toronto.
As a member of our editorial staff the Copy Editor will work to ensure that copy generated by various PTP publications reaches its audience error free. You will be the czar of grammar, spelling and punctuation. As Copy Editor, you will also be tasked to ensure PTP's staff editors and writers are proficient in house style.
As the ideal candidate, you have a solid background in journalism, strong writing skills and knowledge of editorial standards and defamation law. You have a freakishly keen eye for detail with the ability to spot tiny errors instantly amid huge seas of text. You have the natural ability to maintain concentration on the task at hand for extended periods.
You have sophisticated knowledge of Canadian Press and Associated Press styles and can move easily between them. You realize that your colleagues depend on your ability to meet deadlines.
You are familiar with PTP publications (Xtra, fab, The Guide) and support our work. You are familiar with gay and lesbian communities and their politics. You are often skeptical of what you read in the mainstream press.
This is a full-time salaried position. PTP provides a generous benefits package, three weeks annual vacation and an energetic, progressive work environment.
